Crystalloid “Balanced Lactated Ringer’s” IV solution is safer to the kidneys

We interviewed Vanderbilt’s Todd Rice, MD about his NEJM papers that showed crystalloid, or balanced Lactated Ringer’s, IV solution is less injurious to the kidneys than “normal saline”. The reason is due to the lower chloride in the Lactated Ringer’s.
