March 23, 2015- Interviewed by Steven E. Greer, MD
We interviewed the Principal Investigator of the PROMISE trial, Pamela Douglas, MD from Duke. The trial was NIH-funded and randomized 10,000 patients to receive either CT-scan technology to evaluate new onset chest pain, or more traditional screening methods. The study failed to demonstrate a benefit to the CT-scan technologies.
We asked her whether there was an “oculostenotic reflex” caused by the CT-scans that led to more PCI and CABG. We also asked about the radiation dosages.
